I would personnaly have worked in shades of orange! The shadow from below is too gray (that's what make the color sad and dirty) > try to set the layer mode to "overlay" (I think it's this in english).
Same thing for the white glare

That's just my opinion on this color treatment

You know I like that the colors are alive (especially in summer)
